After our mega voyage over to Chile from Uruguay last week, with over 35 hours sitting on a bus, including a 7 hour wait on top of the Andes in a snow blanket, we are finally the lucky owners of a suite of Berghaus clothes. Dave’ sister courageously hauled the kit, donated by our sponsors, over the “pond” and so it was that we received the most bumper “Christmas stockings” to date!
From waterproofs, fleeces and trousers, to a Kendale down jacket for Dave and two spangly mesh caps; Berghaus has helped us gear up to face the elements. Crucially, everything is extremely light-weight, as every gram is going to count when we start hauling all our gear up the tortuous hills of the Carratera Austral in Chile, scaling the Andes and then facing day after day of howling winds in Argentina.
